Dean's Corner October 2014

The last quarter of 2014 coming up and life will get busier as Christmas, my favorite season of celebration, approaches. In a few weeks our College of Arts and Sports CAS International College Committee (ICC) will be getting together in Tijuana, Mexico, for our annual meeting.  It’s a highlight for us to catch up with each other and get the reports of what God has done while we also look at our strategies for the future.  What does God want us to do in this next season to see us multiply missionaries into the Arts and Sports spheres of society?  Please pray for us to hear from God and to know how to implement His plans.

In the past we have had a number of the CAS ICC share about the ministries they are involved in and what their roles are.  Recently I had to opportunity to meet up with one of our newest school leaders Stevie Lujan from the Newcastle base in Australia.   He will be leading the next School of Music in Missions SOMM in October this year and I’ve invited him to share with his vision.  Please keep Stevie and all our school leaders in your prayers, as they are the ones doing the work on the cutting edge.  They are dedicated to their students, giving their lives to model godly values and desire to develop the student’s skills to reach the lost.  Stevie is a professional musician who has extensive experience with bands, touring and recording and he wants to share this with his students.   Please pass on this opportunity.

Blessings

YWAM's School of Music in Missions

Written by Stevie Lujan

Greetings from YWAM Newcastle in Australia!

SOMMWe are so excited to be pioneering the School of Music in Missions here at YWAM Newcastle. I’ve personally had such an amazing and humbling journey of seeing God challenge and shape me in my calling over the past 10+ years. I want to invite you to consider this amazing opportunity to come, be trained, and then catapulted into your calling to reach the unreached, using music as the medium for long term, radical change. Here’s a snapshot of what the school is shaping up to be.

When: October 28 - March 21 2014

What: School of Music in Missions.

The heart of this school is to multiply radical, kingdom artists into their callings. As a YWAM school it will have a strong flavor of what that looks like as a full time missionary, but also will have massive implications for those who don’t know for sure if that is their long term place in serving God.  This school is part of a BA in Music with the University of the Nations if you want to get your degree.

Outreach:

We are pursuing involvement in some large music festivals in New Zealand and linking up with some regional and international artists for tours. This could possibly include direct teaching and impartation from long term, seasoned Christian musicians. The recording phase of the school will also most likely be in New Zealand and will happen towards the end of the school once the songs we have written and had time to fully develop.

Please consider joining us as a student, or if you’ve already done the school, as staff. We are believing for an incredible time together of growing in our creative gifting, but mostly in encountering Jesus and developing a heart for the unreached. Look forward to hearing from you.

Deans Corner July 2014

Hello friends,

Currently I’m doing an Executive Master’s in Leadership with the UofN and we recently had our first Intensive in Tijuana, Mexico with 32 students. It was exciting to sit among seasoned leaders and to hear their stories from around the world.  We were required to present two papers and one of mine was on Nehemiah, a great event manager in the Bible.  One recurring theme in Nehemiah is spiritual warfare in the form of three enemies: Sanballat, Tobiah and Gesham, who consistently come against Nehemiah as he works to restore the wall of Jerusalem.  Their strategy changes in order to try and throw him off guard, but he sees what their underlying plan is, which is to stop the construction.  He refuses to stop and so he sees the wall rebuilt in 52 days.  What an amazing victory!

What is it God is calling you to do?  What is the distraction or challenge you need to face in order to reach your goal?  Give thanks in all circumstances for the Lord is with you in the midst of the battle and He will bring victory.

I’ve asked Luzanne from the Lausanne base in Switzerland to share about the School of Event Management she is leading there this August.  She is an amazing pioneering young woman of God who has pushed through to accomplish mighty feats through managing events.  Read below and be inspired and challenged to follow in her footsteps.

School of Event Management

Calling all leaders, organizers, visionaries! Do you have a passion for people? Do you long to see the gospel multiplied throughout the nations? If you love to dream, plan, organize, and empower, the School of Event Management might be the next tool in your tool belt.

The vision of the SEM is to see young people grow in their leadership by skillfully dreaming, birthing, creating and leading events of all sizes. Its aim is to create powerful, effective programs that will impact communities, cities and nations – communicating God’s truth and message through creative means.

YWAM Lausanne, Switzerland is offering a unique four month training this August 25th till December 16, 2014. After which we will finish in a grand finale in the city, building a platform to share hope and truth and present the One through whom this is possible.
